Our Mission: Promoting the Well-Being of Every One of our Residents

Motivated by their concern for the spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of older persons, especially their own members, the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia and the Presbytery of Eastern Virginia of the Presbyterian Church (USA) have, by the grace of God, created Westminster-Canterbury to care for these people. Their spirit of Christian love and understanding encourages Westminster-Canterbury to operate its facilities in a careful and caring manner that emphasizes the concern for the well-being of its residents as a primary objective.

Westminster-Canterbury shall provide for those persons, age 62 years or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic origin, a spectrum of living arrangements and services that emphasizes independent living with attendant nursing care, clinical services, meals, spiritual, social, and cultural activities, housekeeping and other services. All of this shall be offered in a caring, supportive, secure, attractive environment by competent professionals who have respect and empathy for the individuality, integrity, and independence of all residents.
