Lifelong Learning Institute
New options to pursue intellectual fitness, wellness and fun.
Westminster-Canterbury’s lifestyle has always been focused on living well, with opportunities for fulfillment, health, and social and spiritual involvement inspired by our Wellness for Life program. To create additional opportunities for intellectual engagement and enjoyment, we’ve partnered with Virginia Wesleyan University to form the Westminster-Canterbury Lifelong Learning Institute, which offers classes and activities at both Virginia Wesleyan’s campus and Westminster-Canterbury.
Our partnership allows residents to audit select classes at Virginia Wesleyan for free, including:
- Political Science
- Popular Culture
- and more
Residents may also attend concerts, plays, lectures and sporting events at Virginia Wesleyan—at no charge. (Note: Post-season NCAA tournament games require admission fees.)
Sixty-four fascinating mini-courses will be offered each year at Westminster-Canterbury, coordinated by Virginia Wesleyan professor Dr. Ben Fraser, the Westminster-Canterbury Fellow for Religious Studies and Lifelong Learning. In addition, residents may also attend Interfaith Dialogues on a variety of current topics, as well as field trips to local museums accompanied by timely discussions.
